Material Lack / Poverty

Material Lack / Poverty

Are you poor, suffering material lack? Perhaps you or your loved ones are suffering hunger, lack of clothing, inadequate shelter or housing?  You don’t have sufficient income to support yourself?

If you believe in Christ, the following promises apply to you:

“The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.” Psalm 23:1 [Amplified Bible]

“Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever. They will not be disgraced in hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough.” Psalm 37:18-19 [New Living Translation]

“Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.” Psalm 34:10 [New Living Translation]

Jesus, by His grace took our poverty on the cross when He was crucified so that we may be rich [just as He took our sins, so that we may have righteousness (right standing with God) and an everlasting life]:  “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make your rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9 [New Living Translation]

He also died on the cross so that the blessing (empowerment to prosper in all things) that was given to Abraham could come upon all those who believe in Christ [Galatians 3:14]. (Abraham is considered biblically to be the first man who demonstrated faith in God and God cut a covenant with him that made him the spiritual forefather of all believers.)  Abraham became very wealthy because of God’s blessing on him [Genesis 13:2; 24:1].  Today, because of Christ’s Crucifixion, that same blessing is given by faith to all who believe in Jesus Christ.

Jesus said:
“31  Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? Or, What are we going to have to drink? Or, What are going to have to wear?
32  For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
33  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given to you besides.
34  So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:31-34 [Amplified Bible] (my emphasis)

He also said:
“7  Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking, and you will find.  Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
8  For everyone who asks receives.  Everyone who seeks, finds.  And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
9  You parents – if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?
10  Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake?  Of course not!
11  So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” Matthew 7:7-11 [New Living Translation]

The Apostle Paul wrote the following:
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 [New King James Version]

Jesus said: “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came  that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 [Amplified Bible] He also said: “You haven’t done this before.  Ask, using my name and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” John 16:24 [New Living Translation] [Read the article How To Exercise Faith.]

If you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, these promises will also be available to you. Start your journey through life with Jesus Christ!

How Do You Receive Christ into Your Life?

If you would like to receive the gift of salvation that God has for you today, make a decision in your own heart that you want to be forgiven of your sins and that you wish to turn your back on a sinful life. Believe in the Kingdom of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ [Mark 1:15]. The Bible says if you confess with your mouth (i.e. actually say it) that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will receive salvation [Romans 10:9-10]. Salvation is open to any human being who calls upon the name of the Lord [Romans 10:12-13].

If you want to get saved right now:

First silently read the text in the paragraph below and make sure you understand it. It is a confession prayer you can use to get born again this very moment.

If in your heart you agree with the content of the statement below then, read it again, but this time say it with your mouth out loud as you read it:

“Father, I thank You that you sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to take my sins and my punishment.  Lord Jesus, I believe that You died for me and that God raised You from the dead.  Today I confess that You are my Lord and my Saviour.  Father, forgive me of all of my sins.  Thank You Father that today, by Your grace, I am born again, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.”
