Battling an Addiction?

Battling an Addiction?

Are you addicted to alcohol, cigarettes or drugs?  Cocaine, heroine, marijuana, or crystal meth perhaps?  Abusing prescription drugs or domestic chemicals?  Tired of trying to break your bondage with your own will power (which only results in failure)?  Don’t know what to do?

The great apostle Paul said:
“… we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behaviour governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings.]  We were then by nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind.” Ephesians 2:3 [Amplified Bible]

But, your day of salvation and freedom has come!

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).” 2 Corinthians 3:17 [Amplified Bible]

Jesus said:
“18  …The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me,To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; …” Luke 4:18 [New King James Version] (My emphasis)  Is your addiction a bondage that is oppressing you?

————

“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].” Ephesians 2:10 [Amplified Bible]

————

It is at the point of your weakness that Jesus’ power is strongest.  Jesus said to the apostle Paul “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 [New King James Version]

————

You are not the first nor will you be the last to face such problems.  The good news is Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit, transforms and gives direction to the lives of those who accept Him into their lives so that they are conformed to His image [Romans 8:29] (in the process cleaning up our lives and recreating them).   “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 4:20 [New Living Translation]

Christ has done this for millions of others before you. Your choice is whether or not you want to accept this gift of emancipation, by faith. It’s time to get back on the path that God predestined specifically for you – if you choose to have the good life that God originally planned for you!  Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and allow Him to transform your life out of bondage.

Your salvation (through Jesus Christ) is the first step to take.   As you learn the word of God and begin to understand who you are in God’s eyes (having been cleansed by the blood of Christ), your mind will be renewed, your bondage will be broken and the restoration of your life will begin.
How Do You Receive Christ into Your Life?

If you would like to receive the gift of salvation that God has for you today, make a decision in your own heart that you want to be forgiven of your sins and that you wish to turn your back on a sinful life. Believe in the Kingdom of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ [Mark 1:15]. The Bible says if you confess with your mouth (i.e. actually say it) that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will receive salvation [Romans 10:9-10]. Salvation is open to any human being who calls upon the name of the Lord [Romans 10:12-13].

If you want to get saved right now:

First silently read the text in the paragraph below and make sure you understand it. It is a confession prayer you can use to get born again this very moment.

If in your heart you agree with the content of the statement below then, read it again, but this time say it with your mouth out loud as you read it:

“Father, I thank You that you sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to take my sins and my punishment.  Lord Jesus, I believe that You died for me and that God raised You from the dead.  Today I confess that You are my Lord and my Saviour.  Father, forgive me of all of my sins.  Thank You Father that today, by Your grace, I am born again, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.”
