Are you driven by self-reliance – believing in the strength of your works and knowledge so much that you have no time for or reverence for God?  Have you considered that this may be a spirit of pride in you? Has your wealth, success, knowledge, intellect, prosperity or power led you to neglect God or to believe you don’t need God?

“Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning:  Don’t think you are better than you really are.  Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.”  Romans 12:3 [New Living Translation]

“For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” Galatians 6:3 [New King James Version]

“Be of the same mind toward one another.  Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.  Do not be wise in your own opinion.”  Romans 12:16 [New King James Version] (My emphasis)

“27  Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise.  And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

28  God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.

29  As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 [New Living Translation]

The apostle Paul wrote:

“18  Let no one deceive himself.  If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.  For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness’,

20  and again ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.’ ” 1 Corinthians 3:18-20 [New King James Version]

Jesus said:
“11  ‘But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.
12  ‘And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.’ ”  Matthew 23:11-12  [New King James Version]

Are you driven by the love of money and possessions?
“9  But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10  For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:9-10 [New King James Version]

“Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and a craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support.  [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] ” Hebrews 13:5 [Amplified Bible]

“17  Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable.  Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
18  Tell them to use their money to do good.  They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.
19  By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.”  1 Timothy 6:17-19 [New Living Translation]

How Do You Receive Christ into Your Life?

If you would like to receive the gift of salvation that God has for you today, make a decision in your own heart that you want to be forgiven of your sins and that you wish to turn your back on a sinful life. Believe in the Kingdom of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ [Mark 1:15]. The Bible says if you confess with your mouth (i.e. actually say it) that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will receive salvation [Romans 10:9-10]. Salvation is open to any human being who calls upon the name of the Lord [Romans 10:12-13].

If you want to get saved right now:

First silently read the text in the paragraph below and make sure you understand it. It is a confession prayer you can use to get born again this very moment.

If in your heart you agree with the content of the statement below then, read it again, but this time say it with your mouth out loud as you read it:

“Father, I thank You that you sent Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to take my sins and my punishment.  Lord Jesus, I believe that You died for me and that God raised You from the dead.  Today I confess that You are my Lord and my Saviour.  Forgive me of all of my sins.  Thank You Father that today, by Your grace, I am born again, in Jesus' name.  Amen.”
